a leading, global manufacturer and supplier of orthodontic
products and services. The company is privately owned
and has been in business for over seventy years.
Vision
statement: The company wishes to significantly
increase its share of market and become the preferred
supplier for a broad range of products. In order to
achieve this goal, the company needs to refresh its
brand image and approach the market with new positioning.
It also needs to establish a compelling value proposition,
since many of its competitors have sold a full line
of products for a longer period of time. Brand
differentiation is more difficult as a commodity environment
is evolving. Product innovation has been a key to
staking out a unique position in the marketplace.
Over the past fifteen years, many new techniques and
appliances have been introduced by competitors. Despite
introducing many product enhancements, their image
remains aligned with priority brand products that
make them very successful today as in the past, however
a need to expand brand awareness is desired to reach
more of the market.
General
scope of work: This position will lead the
team in the design, development, and testing of new
products. This includes managing an integrated team
of product development engineers and quality control
personnel in developing new products that have significant
market expansion potential.
In
general this person will:
· Direct new product development
· Monitor and upgrade testing procedures
· Direct materials research
· Develop new processes and upgrade existing
ones
· Direct personnel development
Education
requirements: All engineering disciplines
and degrees could be applicable. Ph.D. level is encouraged.
Skills
required: A thorough knowledge of materials
including polymers, plastics, adhesives, and metals.
An ability to communicate and manage peers and subordinates
effectively.
