business of helping customers develop, prototype,
and manufacture medical devices. They work with medical
consultants, industrial designers, and OEM manufacturers
to bring products into manufacturing practice by using
the collective resources of the company, and a bank
of highly qualified suppliers. Offering accredited
A2LA Laboratory and Certified UL Test Agency services
through the Technical Center allows them to go well
beyond the limits of other contract manufacturers.
General
scope of work: This position is responsible
for developing or coordinating changes and/or modifications
to Product Designs. This can involve existing customer
designs and /or internally developed designs, supporting
products through initial product verification/ validation
and/or transitioning them to global production facilities.
Education
requirements: BS degree or higher or equivalent
relevant experience.
Skills
required: A minimum of 5 years experience.
Design and develop products for customer solutions.
Review and approve alternative materials and processes
to improve cost, quality and reliability. Convert
customer specified changes, improvements or product
variation requests into manufacturable solutions.
Maintain and manage your schedule for assigned projects.
Perform Design Reviews as needed for all applicable
projects. Review and /or evaluate customer field returns
that may involve liability. Works with Quality Teams
to define parameters for internal product, process
and customer requirements. Assists Materials Teams
in selection /evaluation of suppliers. Represent GD
Engineering on customer visits and meetings as needed.
Have a working knowledge of the applicable Agency/Regulatory
requirements for the markets you are assigned. Assist
the Manufacturing Engineering teams in transfer/sharing
of critical product design/functional knowledge. Develop
and maintain necessary documentation to support internal
GD, Regulatory and customer requirements as needed.
Keep up on current technologies as it relates to the
markets we serve. Identify and pursue Intellectual
Property opportunities. Participate in PFEMA and /or
DFEMA activities as required. Assist in specifying
tooling and fixture designing as required. Develop
required documentation to implement changes to existing
products.
