General
scope of work: This position will work with
internal metallurgists and technical services group
to best service the customer base. Assess an order's
fit with mill capability and create opportunities
for development. Keep in mind the value of return
on the project. Solve problems at customer operations.
Typical problems arise when materials do not work
to the customers expectations. Determine if the problem
is a materials, development, or process usage failure
attributed to the mill, third part producer, or the
client. Operate in a proactive manner to prevent problems
from arising both internally and externally. Manage
expectation on developing applications for clients.
Work with finance department on debits, credits, and
claims. Work to settle disputes when situations become
complex. Develop relationships internally to expedite
customer solutions in the mill.
Education
requirements: BS in Metallurgy or Material
Science or equivalent experience in a metallurgical
capacity.
Skills
required: Metallurgical application experience
coupled with problem solving experience, exposure
to statistics, good data base skills, and strong communication/interpersonal
skills. Must understand metal / steel is produced
and understand how it is used by the electrical steel
producers.
